Recount Text



2.1.2       
Recount is a text that has social function to tell the reader, a story had happened for the purpose of informing or entertaining. Recount texts can be from of personal letters, diary, history, biography or autobiography and the similar. It is supported by Warner (2009:25) that ”A recount tells the reader about something that has happened. It can be story (fictional) recount or factual recount”.  Where this event took place and when it happens, this called the orientation sequence of event is the description in some sort of order (e.g time). There may be Re-Orientation at the end which summary summarize the event. The purpose of recount text is to give the audience a description of what occurred and when it occurred.

 phenomena seemed by eyes.

 (using, parsing, composing, modifying, and creating) and the realm of the abstract
 (writing, reading, counting, drawing, and fabricated) according to
the learned in schools and other sources in the same point of view/theory.

II. Basic Competence
1.1 Grateful for the opportunity to learn English has a language of international
 communication embodied in the spirit of learning.
2.2  Showing the honest, discipline, confident, and responsibility behavior in  implementing transactional communication with teachers and friends.
3.7 Applying text structure and linguistic elements to carry out the procedure with the social function of the text stating and asking about recipes and manuals, short and simple, according to the context of its use.
4.7 Catching the meaning of the text procedures, oral and written, recipes and manually
 shaped, short and simple.
4.8 Arranging procedure texts, oral and written, short and simple, recipes and manually
  shaped, with attention to social functions, text structure and linguistic elements are correct
  and appropriate context.

Lexical Equivalent (A word has more than one meaning in translating English into Indonesia)



In translation, sometimes we find a word that have more than one meaning
e.g.
1.      We take Obama to mosque
2.      The radio announcer takes the air at 9 p.m.
3.      They take a part in this party
4.      Andi is still green at this job
5.      The wall is green
6.      This fruit is still green

definitions translation


Definitions
Translation ,as a process,is always uni directional ,namely it is always performed in a given direction from a source language (SL) into a target language(TL).
if you pay careful attention to the words underlined in the definitions above you will learn that:
1.the words equivalent is used  by catford ,savory ,nida and pinchuck.while Mc Guire uses the words similar which is synonymous to the word equivalent
2.textual material (catford),sl text Mc Guire) ,written message (newmark) and SL  message (Nida) are synonymous to indicate something to be translate into TL
3.replacement(catford) and reproducing (nida)derive  from replace and and reproduce which are synonymous .the word replace is used by Newmark
Thus, equivalent, SL text (message) and replacement are the three important elements in translation .some other elements  include meaning ,style, craft and process.
It seems easier to get  the  Indonesian equivalent of English words in isolation ,but when it comes  to phrases and sentences then your knowledge of grammar plays an important  role .you can see from the examples above that the English adjuct comes before the known while the Indonesian adjuct comes after it .you can also see that to be (copula) and a(idenfite article) are dropped and not translated in order to obtain accepted Indonesian translation equivalent
Since words sometimes have more than one meaning ,their translation equivalent could be a problem unless they are  used in context (pharase,sentence or paragraph)
In the examples above the word cat,dog and mice are not used literally and so their Indonesian equivalents kucing,anjing dan tikus respectively are not present in the translation result.
Based on the six definitions avaible ,you can synthesize that translation in a process of replacing /reproducing /transferring from the SL written text /material/concept into it is TL equivalent in such a way that you retain the meaning and style
